Flights to Wallis and Futuna land at Hihifo Airport (WLS) on Wallis, where airline listings show Aircalin services to Nouméa and Nadi. We do not hold a confirmed timetable or any fares, so treat those two cities as the gateways, and confirm days, times and prices with the airline before you pay for anything else.

Flights to Wallis and Futuna: Airports, Routes and What to Check
Flights to Wallis and Futuna land at Hihifo (WLS) on Wallis. What our records say about routes, Futuna's airport, and what to confirm before you pay.
01
The two airports
Wallis has Hihifo Airport, code WLS, with a 2,100 m asphalt runway. It began life as a bomber airfield that became operational in October 1942 and is today's airport, so the runway has a long history for such a small island.
Futuna has its own airfield at Pointe Vele, in Alo. If you are planning flights to Wallis island and then onward to Futuna, remember that they are two separate airports on two separate island groups.
02
Routes shown in airline listings
Airline listings show Aircalin services from Hihifo to Nouméa and to Nadi. That is the extent of what we can state as a route. For a sense of scale, the territory's own statistics sheet gives Nouméa as 2,500 km away, Suva 780 km and Paris 16,000 km, and we compute Nadi at about 848 km from Wallis in a straight line.
03
Fares and cheap flights
People often search for cheap flights to Wallis and Futuna. We cannot give you a fare range, a booking window or a typical price, because none of our sources states one and we will not guess. What we can say is that the main source markets for visitors are New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia and metropolitan France, which fits the Nouméa and Nadi connections above.
For the current timetable and fares, go to Aircalin directly, or ask the tourist office at wallis-futuna.travel, which is the official tourism site. If you book through a comparison site, check that the flight it shows is actually operating on your dates.
04
Getting from Wallis to Futuna
The two island groups are roughly 230 km apart, and there is no public sea crossing between them. Inter-island flights do not run on Sundays, and you should confirm any schedule before relying on it. We do not know which carrier operates the inter-island flights or how often, so we do not show a schedule.
Build slack into your plans. If you have a long-haul connection on either side, a missed inter-island flight is more awkward than a missed bus on a larger island.
05
Disruption and checking before you fly
We hold no information on the status of any runway works at Hihifo, so check with the airline when you search for flights from WLS.
06
Before you pay: a short checklist
Passport: arrival documents are as for France, non-EU passengers need a passport, and many nationals need no visa, so check France-Visas. UK nationals can stay visa-free for up to 90 days, and the passport must be valid for 6 months after departure.
Health and money: a yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a country with a transmission risk. There is no exchange office at either airport and many shops lack card terminals, so exchange money before you arrive. The currency is the CFP franc, pegged to the euro.
On the ground: there is no public transport and no taxis, so a hire car is needed. Take insurance that covers local treatment and medical evacuation, because serious cases are usually evacuated to Nouméa.
Accommodation: the ten listed places to stay have no dedicated online booking sites and are contacted directly, so it is sensible to have a bed confirmed before you commit to flights. IMPT, the booking platform, publishes this journal.
