To get to Wallis and Futuna you fly: airline listings show Aircalin services from Hihifo Airport on Wallis to Nouméa and Nadi, and there is no public sea crossing between the islands. Futuna has its own airport at Pointe Vele, so reaching it means an onward flight from Wallis. Schedules and fares are not in our records, so confirm them with the airline and the tourist office.

How to Get to Wallis and Futuna: Flights, Hops and Limits
How to get to Wallis and Futuna: Aircalin links Wallis with Nouméa and Nadi, Futuna is reached by air from Wallis, and there is no public ferry. What we know.
01
The short answer: by air, usually via Nouméa or Nadi
If you are asking how to get to Wallis and Futuna (comment se rendre à Wallis et Futuna), the practical answer is a flight. Hihifo Airport (code WLS) on Wallis has a 2,100 m asphalt runway, and airline listings show Aircalin services to Nouméa and to Nadi in Fiji.
02
Why Nouméa and Nadi matter
Nouméa is about 2,500 km away and Suva, the Fijian capital, about 780 km, according to the official statistics sheet. Nadi, the Fiji hub, is about 848 km from Wallis (a distance we computed from coordinates, not a flight length).
We hold no information on direct links from Wallis to Samoa, American Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Niue or Tokelau, so ask the airline about routings if your trip combines Wallis with those places.
03
Getting from Wallis to Futuna
The two island groups are roughly 230 km apart, and there is no public sea crossing between Wallis and Futuna. Inter-island flights do not run on Sundays, and the tourism board asks you to confirm before relying on any schedule.
Futuna's airport is Pointe Vele, at Vele in Alo district.
04
What we do not know
We cannot give you fares, current frequencies, baggage allowances, flight times from Europe, or booking links, because none of them is in our records.
The honest advice is simple: check Aircalin directly, and use the Wallis and Futuna Tourist Office contact form on wallis-futuna.travel for questions the airline cannot answer.
05
Arriving by yacht
Some visitors arrive under sail; the tourism interview cites about 50 yachts and about two cruise ships a year. Yachts must report to customs at the quay (Mata'Utu on Wallis, Leava on Futuna) and then to the gendarmerie.
Gahi Bay is the only authorised anchorage on Wallis, and Leava Bay is the most sheltered on Futuna. Futuna's reef has a single break opposite a river estuary, which is what gives Leava its safe anchorage.
06
Before you fly: documents, money and the road
Arrival documents are as for France: non-EU passengers need a passport, and many nationals need no visa. Read our passport guide and check France-Visas for your own nationality.
Bring cash in the local currency, the CFP franc (XPF), pegged to the euro. There is no exchange office at either airport, and many shops lack card terminals. There is no public transport and no taxis, so you will need a hire car once you land, driving on the right.
