How Much Is a Flight to Wallis and Futuna? What We Can Say

How much is a flight to Wallis and Futuna? We hold no dated fares, so we quote none. Here is how the route works and how to check a price properly.

How much is a flight to Wallis and Futuna? We cannot give you an honest figure, because our records contain no dated fares for any route, so we quote none. What we can do is explain how the route is shaped, what tends to disrupt it, and how to check a fare properly before you pay.

01

Why this page has no price in it

Most travel pages answer this question with a range. We have chosen not to. A fare for a remote island route changes with the date, the season, the fare class and the baggage you add, and a number copied from an old article would only mislead you. Everything on this page is therefore about the route, not the price.

If you have seen a figure quoted elsewhere, treat it as a snapshot and ask what date it was taken. The same applies to the prices on comparison sites: they are a starting point for your own check, not an answer.

02

What the route looks like

Wallis is reached through Hihifo Airport (code WLS), which has a 2,100 m asphalt runway. Airline listings for the airport show Aircalin services to Nouméa and to Nadi in Fiji.

Distance is part of the story: official statistics give Nouméa as 2,500 km away and Paris as 16,000 km, and Nadi lies about 848 km from Wallis.

03

Why people find the fares high

Readers often ask why flights to Wallis are expensive. We cannot give you a documented reason, and we would rather not guess. What the records do show is a long, remote route: airline listings for the airport show services to Nouméa and Nadi, and the territory is thousands of kilometres from Paris. Those are facts about the geography, not an explanation of any particular fare.

The practical conclusion is simple. Do not budget from hearsay. Price your own dates, and price the whole journey, including the connection that brings you to Nouméa or Nadi in the first place.

04

Disruption you should plan for

Flights to small islands can move. Check the current check-in time with the airline rather than relying on an old itinerary.

Leave slack around any onward connection, and do not book a tight international departure straight after an inter-island hop.

05

Wallis to Futuna is a separate question

There is no public sea crossing between Wallis and Futuna, so reaching Futuna means an inter-island flight to Pointe Vele airport, and those flights do not run on Sundays. Confirm the day and time before you build the rest of your plan around it. Our records do not hold an inter-island fare either, so the advice above applies here too.

06

How to check a fare properly

Start with Aircalin's own page for the route, then compare it with a travel agent's quote for the same dates. Searching for Wallis flight cost will bring up comparison sites, which are useful for orientation only. Look at the total journey rather than the headline fare: the first leg to Nouméa or Nadi, the connection time, and what each ticket allows in baggage. Aircalin gives an extra 10 kg allowance for sports equipment on Nouméa to Wallis flights, which matters if you are bringing a kite or fishing gear.

Write down the date and time you checked, and check the same dates again a few days later. If you are flexible, search neighbouring days. We have no record of which months carry lower fares. Cyclone season runs from November to April, so factor that into your dates as well as the cost.

If you are searching in French, the phrase to use is prix billet Wallis Nouméa.

Questions people ask.

Is there a standard fare for Wallis and Futuna flights?
We have found no published standard fare and hold no dated fares, so we do not quote one. Fares depend on the date, the route and the ticket conditions, so price your own dates with the airline or a travel agent.
Which airline flies to Wallis?
Airline listings for Hihifo Airport show Aircalin services to Nouméa and Nadi. A 2019 trade article called Aircalin the only airline serving the territory, but that is old, so confirm when you search.
When are fares lowest?
Our records do not say. Compare several dates and check again closer to your trip.
Can I fly between Wallis and Futuna on a Sunday?
Inter-island flights do not run on Sundays according to the tourism board, and there is no public sea crossing. Confirm times before you rely on them.
